A veteran of the Albuquerque Police Department has resigned amid allegations he beat up his wife who’s also a member of APD.

She also claims APD Sergeant Patrick Ficke recently threatened to pull the trigger on himself.

Ficke has been with APD for 9 years. Ficke quit on Monday, after being arrested on Sunday, said APD.

Ficke’s wife, who’s a detective at APD, says she had dropped him off at Marble Brewery with some friends on Sunday.

According to the police report, she says he got home about five hours later, extremely drunk.

But he allegedly told his wife he was going into work because he had been called in.

She told him he was just too drunk to go work.

She claims he hit her several times with his phone and grabbed the back of her neck.

She was eventually able to sneak out and call for help.

In the report, the alleged victim says Ficke started to drink heavily recently partly because he was having an affair.

The other woman said she wouldn’t leave her husband for Ficke, he allegedly grew angrier.

He threatened to kill himself around Christmas.

The report says, Ficke “put his .45 caliber handgun in his mouth, gagging himself with it.” It goes on to say this all happened in front of their young son. Ficke’s wife said “her son even cried for her not to let daddy kill himself.”

Rio Rancho police had to get an arrest warrant after trying to talk to Ficke out of his house in Northeast Rio Rancho. He’s facing charges for domestic and child abuse.
