LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Officials hope new additions and renovations at Burn Lake Park will bring the park back to life amid severe drought.
KVIA-TV reports that Las Cruces officials are designing for the park new picnic areas, more shade and new play areas for children.
Assistant City Manager Brian Denmark says they also are adding a trail that would go all the way around the lake bed. Severe drought has reduced Burn Lake to a large hole full of dirt, trash and some dry shrubs.
Denmark says the entire project will cost around $700,000. He says the project is still in the design phase.
