ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Slot-machine gambling in New Mexico is producing bigger returns overall, with tribal casinos showing an increase but racetrack casinos recording a drop.
Overall, the Gaming Control Board reports that total "net win" from slot machines increased by about 4 percent in 2012 from 2011 and just barely topped $1 billion for the first time.
Net win is the amount wagered on slot machines after deducting payouts to winners and approved regulatory fees.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that tribal casinos' total net win increased by about 6 percent. Meanwhile, the track casinos' net win decreased by 3 percent.
