A man who was shot and bleeding banged on a neighbors door pleading for help.

When police got to the northeast Albuquerque neighborhood on Haines and Pennsylvania they found another man shot to death and a third wounded.

"It sounded like a pop..." That first pop a few houses down woke Judy Crites.

"Firecracker type pop," she said.

Then, several more.

"And then voices a lot of talking yelling," said Crites.

Crites checked the time. It was around 10 at night.

It was too dark to see anything - but she suspected she wasn't hearing fireworks.

“And our dogs, well you heard them, and they were barking and we were like what's going out there you know - there it was,” Crites said.

Police found one man shot to death in the kitchen at this house and two others, wounded and bleeding nearby.

One man made it to a neighbor’s house for help, leaving behind a trail of blood.

A blood trail goes on for about 100 yards leading from the scene of the crime down Pennsylvania from one of the victims desperately seeking help.

This woman down the street doesn't want to be identified.

She says this house has a bad reputation.

"There's just a lot of activity, the gossip is of course that there's a lot of drugs and who knows what else," said the neighbor.

A few neighbors say this isn't the first outbreak of violence here - they tell KOB Eyewitness News 4 there was a stabbing just a few months ago.

But this kind of shooting is just in a different league.

As for Judy Crites...

"Afraid? Yes, but I have two dogs," said Crites.
