Rio Rancho Police say six people have surrendered after police called out a SWAT team to a home near Unser and Southern.

Police had said officers were pursuing suspected car burglars who were barricaded in a residence in the 2600 block of Parr Road.

The suspects were believed to be armed.

SWAT team members from Rio Rancho police and from New Mexico State Police responded.

The situation was near Lincoln Middle School, but classes were not disrupted, a school spokeswoman said.

Officers were serving a search warrant on the residence Wednesday afternoon, police said.
