Jay Gleason has been the chef at Three Rivers Brewery for two years.
His boss, Bob Beckley and customers love what he cooks.
"He's one of the only guys I know who can make a hamburger look lovely," said Beckley.
And now they want to show how much they appreciate him.
Last week Gleason’s house caught fire and he lost everything.
"Early Monday morning my brother was staying there and the fire started from our fireplace and went to the ceiling and continued burning through the house,” said Gleason.
His brother is fine but the two of them lost precious memories and their furry companions.
"We weren't able to get stuff like my dogs out, I lost two of my dogs there, lost a lot of my things I brought back from Portland, all burnt up, a lot of equipment," said Gleason.
Now Gleason is living in an apartment above Three Rivers. Beckley and the rest of the crew are helping him get back on his feet.
The restaurant started a fund for Gleason and is planning a benefit dinner.
Beckley said this is something he'd do for any of his employees.
"This is our family and Jay's part of the family," said Beckley
A family that Gleason is forever thankful for and can't thank enough.
"Oh, I mean, I'm indebted to them, I love them, working here and having them help me out through all this,” he said.
Fittingly, the benefit dinner is called a "smoke out" and Gleasonis going to make a giant barbecue meal. The dinner will be next Saturday, March 30 from 4-6 p.m.
