A suspected synthetic marijuana trafficking investigation has been delayed for months because of an oversight issue.
Our media partners at the Santa Fe New Mexican report police did not send evidence to state labs in a timely manner from a bust that netted more than 1,300 packages of the synthetic marijuana Spice.
Santa Fe police say the department was waiting for results from the state lab so they could file charges.
After months of waiting the state lab realized it did not even have the evidence because police did not turn in test samples until months after the raid.
The police department admitted to the oversight and said it should not affect the integrity of the evidence.
