Albuquerque Police have released the chopper video showing an Iraq war veteran shot by a neighbor last week.
The police helicopter starts on an SUV, driving slowly down Sanderling Road in northwest Albuquerque on the night of March 19th.

The heat camera picks up on Jonathan Mitchell in his garage.  In the video, you can see Mitchell fire a shot at the vehicle.  The man in the vehicle quickly returns fire, hitting Mitchell in the shoulder.
As Mitchell runs into his garage, the SUV drives off.  Mitchell died just minutes later in a neighbor's backyard.  His brother Aaron Mitchell says Jonathan was just on high alert, defending himself.

"Jonathan is a military vet. He's combat trained. He came back from Iraq which is a combat zone," Aaron Mitchell said. "He's a soldier and recognized a threat. Jonathan would not have fired a shot unless he saw a gun pointed at him."

The man in the SUV has not been arrested or charged. Albuquerque Police say they have forwarded the video and the full report to the District Attorney's office.
