ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico Gas Co. is rethinking its plan to build a $35 million gas storage facility in Rio Rancho.
The company was expecting opposition to the project from the state's attorney general and utility regulators.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that the project was a response to a severe cold spell in 2011 that disrupted its supply system and led to service shutdowns to many of its 500,000 customers statewide.
Company spokeswoman Teala Kail says the company may pursue another form of the project or other projects.
