Pete Dinelli is the only candidate, so far, who will likely receive public financing in the race for Albuquerque mayor.
Dinelli submitted more than 5,000 contributions from registered voters to qualify his campaign for public financing.
According to Dinelli, "Once the donations are verified the city will actually give my campaign $363,000 to run a campaign."
Each yellow paper represents a five dollar donation.
Dinelli said, "These five dollar donations represent the average working citizen, the average working man and woman who have basically dug into their pockets, donated five dollars, it shows faith in my campaign, it also shows we got a lot of momentum."
The city clerk will verify the donations.
Two other candidates, Mayor Berry and Paul Heh, will finance their campaigns privately.
Margaret Aragon De Chavez says she intends to apply for public financing.
