On Wednesday night the APS school board will make a final decision on boundary changes that could affect families whose students go to North Star Elementary.
Under the changes, 40 families living within Alameda, Paseo, Ventura and would need to send students to Double Eagle Elementary instead.
Double Eagle is three miles away and has similar test scores to North Star, but many parents have protested sending their kids to a different school than they'd expected.
"If in fact the board voted this down, it would be their decision as to what the next steps would be," said APS spokesperson Monica Armenta.
"Whether it be research, go back to the drawing board, go back to the table and start again, we'll have to see what the vote is tonight."
