He shared his opinions on thousands of movies, and now a lot of people are sharing memories of Roger Ebert.

The famous film critic passed away Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

Even the president issued a statement saying "the movies won't be the same without Roger."

KOB Eyewitness News 4 spoke with film critic Sarah Vorhees, who met Ebert several times at press junkets over the years.

She said he paved the way for critics like herself, and with his simple thumbs up, thumbs down - he changed the face of film criticism.

“There was a time before Ebert when film critics just wrote for film critics, but Roger Ebert wrote for the Average Joe,” she said.

"Average Joe" movie goers relied on Ebert's reviews for more than four decades.

 He was 70 years old.
