You can still count on getting mail in your mail box on Saturdays - for now.

The United States Postal Service had planned to stop Saturday mail deliveries in August.

But the Postal Service announced today that’s not going to happen because Congress didn’t approve.

Maria Alvarado is happy it is continuing.

She says Saturday mail could mean the difference of life or death for her.

"It is very important because I am a candidate for a liver and I'm waiting. Every day I get mail to find out if they have a liver for me," says Alvarado.

The Postal Service says it would have saved about two billion dollars a year by cutting Saturday mail.

The Post Office Board says it will look at price increases and possible layoffs to continue six day mail deliveries.
