SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A former New Mexico shoe salesman recently accused of trying to cut off his ex-girlfriend's big toe with a cigar cutter now faces charges in two previous toe-biting incidents involving the woman.
Daniel Anaya was arrested in Santa Fe on April 1 after his ex-girlfriend reported that he attacked her after tracking her down at her new home earlier that day in Albuquerque. She was able to fight back with a metal fork and escape.
In the new legal development, Anaya is to be arraigned in District Court in Santa Fe on April 23 on an indictment issued Tuesday.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that the indictment charges Anaya with assault, battery and criminal sexual contact in alleged attacks on Nov. 22 and Feb. 3.
Anaya is jailed in Albuquerque.
