A retired judge, accused of funneling bribes to former governor Bill Richardson, is getting his charges reduced.
Former district judge Michael Murphy faced four felony counts on charges that he traded bribes for judicial appointments.
Court documents show prosecutors and the defense have reached a deal to only charge Murphy with misconduct, which is a misdemeanor.
Prosecutors had previously implied the bribes were part of a long-running practice.
Richardson has called the accusations outrageous and defamatory.
