ESPANOLA, N.M. (AP) - State police continue to investigate the cause of a school bus crash in the Carson National Forest.
New Mexico State Police Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez said Saturday that authorities are awaiting an autopsy report and the results of toxicology tests on Pat Valdez, the 69-year-old bus driver who died at the scene of this week's crash.
Gutierrez says it's not clear whether a medical problem or some other factor led to the crash. A funeral service was planned Saturday for Valdez.
Family and friends gathered Friday for a memorial service at the De Vargas Funeral Home in Espanola.
Authorities say the bus went off a road and slammed into an embankment near La Madera on Monday. All nine students on the bus were injured.
Three suffered broken bones.
