Eldorado's Cullen Neal ended a week and a half of speculation when he announced he will play for his dad at UNM. Cullen made the announcement Saturday afternoon via Twitter. He posted:
Up until two weeks ago, Neal had no intention of playing for UNM. His friend (and similar player) Bryce was going to play for the Lobos on a deep guard-oriented team and Neal had other plans. He had committed to play for St. Mary's, but it all changed when his dad got the job at UNM replacing Steve Alford who left for UCLA. Craig Neal was named UNM's new head coach and he said at the time of his press conference he would like to have Cullen play for him in the Cherry and Silver. Cullen will now be let out of his National Letter of Intent to St. Mary's.
Neal led Eldorado to a state title his junior season. He averaged over 26 points a game his senior season.
Cullen summarized his enthusiasm with another tweet:
The love I'm getting is crazy! THANK YOU LOBO FANS!
