Hundreds of people in Albuquerque gathered for a run to benefit Boston Marathon relief efforts.
The owners of the ABQ Running Shop only expected about a hundred people. But after posting the idea to Facebook, it went viral and at least 500 people showed up Wednesday night. The shop owners decided to donate five dollars for each runner's lap around the 2.6 mile course. Some runners also donated their own money.
One of the people who showed up just got back from running the Boston Marathon on Monday. Margaret Oachs says they finished running the Boston Marathon just about a half hour before the bombs went off.
"It could have been at any point, either me or my fiancé or our friends. The fact that we all got through without any injuries is remarkable and we're all thankful for that," Oachs said.
Oachs laced up her running shoes again just two days later in Albuquerque to show her support for Boston.
ABQ Running Shop owners say they will send their donation check within the next few days.
