The Gathering of Nations is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
More than 700 tribes will be represented and more than 100,000 people are expected to attend. You can purchase tickets at the door or at GatheringOfNations.com for $17 a day or $34 for two days.
Larry Yazzie is the roving MC for the event; he says the event has grown and changed greatly over the past 30 years, but his favorite event remains the same.
“You’re gonna see over 1000 dancers get through the grand entry – it takes over an hour and is a spectacle to see,” Mazzie said.
He says it’s a chance for all ages to come together to celebrate Native culture.
“It’s a must-see for everyone,” Yazzie said. “From the tiny tots to the elders, you’ll see beadwork, feathers, all in one area – beautiful magic and medicine coming together.”
