A woman is accused of escaping from her handcuffs and fleeing into an Albuquerque elementary school.

The New Mexico Department of Corrections says Samantha Amos came to the probation office on Monte Vista where she was taken into custody for several probation violations.
But corrections officials say Amos slipped out of her handcuffs and ran from the probation officer. Officials say she dropped the handcuffs into the boy's bathroom at Monte Vista Elementary School.
Amos was eventually taken into custody outside the school, but Albuquerque Police say her boyfriend Armando Garcia was in his car waiting to help her escape.  Police say he tried to hit the probation officer with his car.
Alex Tomlin with the state Department of Corrections says this is a perfect example of why they are trying to move their probation office from the Monte Vista location.

"This is a residential area. It's got a school, it's got a daycare very close by.  Our officers would be better suited in an area that's judicial...that has the courts, that has APD, that has the Sheriff's Department," Tomlin said.

Both Amos and Garcia were arrested and face several charges.
