Construction on Alameda Boulevard between I-25 and Wyoming began today.
The 5.4 million dollar project will install a traffic signal at San Pedro and widen Alameda from two lanes to four between San Pedro and Louisiana. The project will also add to the storm drainage system.
The project is being broken up into six segments to better address the most serious traffic issues prior to the scheduled start of the I-25/Paseo project later this year.
“This project adds additional travel lanes for rush hour commuters, and replaces a four way stop with a new traffic signal,” Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry said. “We expect people to notice a difference in the very near future.”
The project is expected to take a year to complete.
