People with outstanding warrants have an opportunity to appear before a judge today without arrest, according to the New Mexico Magistrate Courts.
Anyone with an outstanding warrant from a state Magistrate Court can visit the Moriarty Magistrate Court, 1100 Route 6 West, before 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The New Mexico Department of Public Safety has collaborated with the courts for what officials call a Second Chance operation.
Anyone with a warrant will have the opportunity to appear before a judge and receive instructions on how to get reinvested in their case without being arrested, officials said.
State courts warrant manager Cynthia Pacheco said there are 65,000 active warrants in New Mexico.
Each one of those can be served today at the Moriarty courthouse. The event is expected to last until 4 p.m., and people will not be turned away if they are in line at that time.
