Two young women and one minor are now charged in the death of a middle aged man stabbed and stuffed in a car trunk and found after a high speed car chase.
Police say 20-year-old Ashley Gurule and 18-year-old Jennifer McKee stabbed a middle aged man in Albuquerque and stuffed him into the trunk of a car to dispose the body. They say 16-year-old Julia Martinez was also involved.
While they were driving down I-25, police stopped them because they were driving too slow. They sped up the car, leading police on a high speed chase from Los Lunas to Belen. The women crashed into a couple other cars and police did a cursory check. In the trunk, they found the body.
Police questioned the suspects for hours and they were cooperative. On Saturday the two adults were taken to a prisoner transport center and will be booked into the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center.
The two adults are charged with murder; the minor is charged with conspiracy.
State police say at this point they do not believe anyone else was involved.
