An Albuquerque west side home was burglarized and now the family who lives there fears what was taken will be used to hurt or kill people.
Eppie Ruiz and her husband live in a neighborhood near Coors and 7 Bar Loop.
They said they left their home to the store for just 45 minutes.
Ruiz came home to find her house turned upside down.
“All the drawers were dumped over. Clothes were all over the place. Our bedroom was a mess,” said Ruiz.
Thousands of dollars worth of their stuff was stolen. Of the things taken, five revolvers and plenty of ammunition.
Ruiz told KOB Eyewitness News 4 the guns were locked away in this safe.
She said the burglars found the keys when they ransacked bedroom drawers.
“They came straight to the safe and opened it up and said bingo, we have everything we want here,” said Ruiz.
Ruiz said the guns are replaceable but she fears those guns are now in the wrong hands.
“I’m afraid that they’re just going to go out there and commit something, hurt somebody or come back,” added Ruiz.
The couple did file a report with police.
Also taken was $2,000 Eppie just took out of the bank to pay her mortgage.
