Last Friday, the day Maurice Gonzales was killed, he was supposed to appear in court for aggravated assault charges.

Gonzales was facing the charges for allegedly threatening a woman who he was living with at the time, as well as one of her friends, with a knife.

Two weeks before Gonzales was allegedly stabbed to death at his northeast Albuquerque apartment, he was accused of threatening two people with a knife there.

Court documents state Gonzales lived there with a woman by the name of Donalda Shortman.  Gonzales was in the process of "kicking her out" when she showed up, with another guy, to collect all her stuff.

According to the criminal complaint, when Shortman did not see any of her belongings on the front porch, she went around to the back.  Shortman allegedly jumped the fence and was checking the back porch for her belongings when Gonzales came outside with a knife.

Shortman allegedly told officers she was "afraid Gonzales was going to kill her" as he attempted to cut her and her friend.

Gonzales admitted to officers that's what happened.

No one was seriously hurt in that incident.

Ashlee Gurule and Jennifer McKee are charged with Gonzales' murder.

The women told police they stabbed Gonzales because he had taken advantage of them in the past.

Police said a 16-year-old girl, the woman picked up after the murder, is charged with conspiracy.
