A family trying to sell their home found out a total stranger is trying to rent it out on Craigslist.
Kristen Turri was home with her two young boys Monday when a trio of strangers showed up on her doorstep. They told her they were there to see the place after seeing it posted for rent on Craigslist for just $600 a month.
The Turri family is trying to sell their home, but they have never posted it on Craigslist. She says the strangers showed her the text messages they had from the man trying to collect a deposit on their home.
"He immediately texts you and tells you go to the house, someone is there to show you around and if you're interested, he'll meet you somewhere else like at the mall or in some parking lot for you to sign the lease and then drop your deposit," Turri said.
She says when her realtor called the Board of Realtors to file a complaint, they told him to stop notifying them because they are swamped with similar calls.
Realtors advise renters do their homework before ever giving anyone a deposit.
