An Albuquerque elementary school teacher is accused of slapping a student.
Albuquerque Public Schools spokesperson Rigo Chavez confirmed that they were investigating a teacher at Pajarito Elementary School Friday afternoon. There was an APS resource officer on campus long after school had ended Friday. Parents told KOB Eyewitness News 4 that is not something they normally see.
Chavez said they are not releasing what grade the student is in or what grade the teacher covers.
Parents like Hillary Anderson want some answers.
"I don't think many people have heard about it. I have a lot of friends here, and I'm not sure - it's really surprising," Anderson said.
District officials say they will likely place the teacher on administrative leave on Monday while they investigate the accusations. They say they may send a note home to parents on Monday as well.
