Santa Fe shoplifters caught on camera

SANTA FE – Santa Fe police are searching for a man accused of threatening a loss prevention officer with a knife while attempting to shoplift from Walmart.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m. at the location on Herrera Drive.

Surveillance video shows an unidentified man and woman bolting out of the store with a cart full of stolen items.

Security guards tried to chase them down and briefly apprehend the female, but police then say the man pulled a knife and told security, "Let her go or I'll stab you."

Both were able to get away. Employees believe the couple fled in a green Dodge Intrepid with a partial NM license plate of JA32.

The merchandise valued at nearly $500 was recovered in the parking lot and includes a home theater system, Blue-Ray DVDs, clothing and toiletries.

The male is described as Hispanic and 5'8" with dark short hair. Police describe the woman as Hispanic and 5'7" with long dark hair. They are believed to be boyfriend and girlfriend.

The knife was described as six to seven inches long with a white handle.

The man faces shoplifting and aggravated assault charges while the woman faces shoplifting charges.
