ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A man convicted of vehicular homicide for having run over another man with a truck last summer in Albuquerque faces up to nine years in prison when he is sentenced.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that a jury on Friday convicted 30-year-old Luther Joe of Cuba of vehicular homicide by reckless driving in the death of Ian Tsethlikai.
The judge also convicted Joe of leaving the scene of an accident where there has been great bodily harm or death.
But jurors found Joe not guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
Tsethlikai died of injuries suffered when Joe's truck ran him down.
Joe's attorney, Susan Porter, says her client's actions during the June 2012 incident were meant to protect himself.
