Phillip Garcia was convicted on child kidnapping charges Monday.
ALBUQUERQUE -- The man arrested for kidnapping a 6-year-old girl in 2011 has been convicted on all counts by a jury.
The young girl was walking outside her Southwest Albuquerque home when Phillip Garcia pulled her into a van. Garcia held the girl’s head down and drove away from the neighborhood.
Police said a Good Samaritan heard the screaming and immediately pursued the van, until it eventually crashed. Garcia fled the scene, while the Samaritan pulled the young girl to safety. Garcia was then arrested and charged with the kidnapping.
