At the Cielo Grande Recreation Area, the fire department is putting final touches on the Roswell fireworks show Thursday night.
"The day before yesterday we wired the whole show, did all of the fireworks yesterday, then today we did the front part of the show," said Roswell Fire Chief Chad Hamill. "We've got 20 guys working on it and it's quite a task."
Meanwhile, all around Roswell people are finding ways to celebrate.
Like the Page family, that set up a giant inflatable water slide in their front yard for the kids in the neighborhood to enjoy.
“They have not stopped playing on this since it got here bright and early this morning,” said Andrew Page.
And the Carrasco family found a place to barbeque and enjoy the city’s big show.
“We’re going to be watching the firework show from here. We’re going to hang out, sit under the stars, and watch some spectacular show,” said Ahmed Carrasco.
The show starts at 9:15 p.m. and is 30 minutes long with more planned that just fireworks.
"There is a sign at the top that says god bless USA, American flags, some waterfall type effects," said Hamill.
And Chief Hamill will be there for the big payoff.
"A lot of work but at the very end when everything starts going boom it's a good feeling," said Hamill.
