Hazmat crews have determined the white powder found in an envelope at the Santa Fe district courthouse was not dangerous.
The FBI has taken over and is requiring 19 employees in the clerk's office--where the envelope was opened--to remain quarantined in the building until testing is completed.
The Santa Fe Sheriff's Office evacuated the rest of the building around 9:30 a.m. The courthouse will remain closed for the rest of the day.
This is the second report of a suspicious package at a Santa Fe government building this week. On Monday, state Capitol receptionists discovered a letter containing a powdery substance.
Hazmat crews determined the substance was not dangerous, but additional tests will be conducted by the FBI.
