On Sunday, more than a hundred people met on Albuquerque’s Civic Plaza to voice frustration with the verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial.
They held signs proclaiming support for Trayvon Martin and his family, and declaring that the justice system is flawed as evidenced by Saturday’s decision.
The rally was set up on Facebook, with an expected 10-15 people attending initially, but the word spread and more than a hundred attended. They planned to march from Civic Plaza to the courthouse on 4th and Lomas.
Many people at the rally stated that they’d like to see federal courts take up the case. Others said they just wanted to raise awareness about the fact that racism still exists.
