Joseph Olivos was arrested on two municipal warrants after a chase through Artesia.
ARTESIA, N.M. -- A fugitive wanted on two municipal warrants led Artesia police on an hour-long chase early Wednesday.
Around 3 a.m., the police department said officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the previously burglarized area of 8th and Richey. The driver took off when police attempted a traffic stop, resulting in a chase through the city.
Officers eventually caught up with the vehicle in the south alley of 1400 Yucca when they heard gunshots ring out in the area.
Police found the driver, Joseph Olivos, in a shed and took him into custody. Olivos was booked into the Artesia city jail on two existing warrants.
At this time, the warrants are the only items Olivos is being held on.
