Five shootings in one night and Farmington police say at least four of them are connected.
People living in the neighborhood say they've never seen anything like this.
Residents thought they were fireworks, not gunshots Saturday night.
"We heard some popping sound like the firecracker type thing I think it was six maybe more," said Leroy Romero, who lives across the street.
Police were called to investigate a shooting Saturday night. When they arrived, they found 40-year-old Christopher Valdez dead.
"It shook me up really bad. I couldn't sleep and first time I saw someone getting hit like that and die," said neighbor Alberta Yazzie.
Yazzie said she saw it happen, and her house was hit by a stray bullet.
"When I glanced back again that person got hit, he just fell and that was it," she said.
Police say they believe Valdez wasn't the target and was coming from down the street to see what was happening.
His neighbors said Valdez was a good guy.
"He was a good neighbor he mind his own business he worked in the oilfield," said neighbor Herbie Ellis.
At least three other people were shot. One man who was shot faces charges.
At this time police say they aren't sure what the motive was behind the shooting. They’re still conducting interviews to piece together what exactly happened.
A fifth gunshot victim showed up to the hospital that evening as well. He told police he was not involved in the shooting, but police are still investigating whether his story is true.
