Help send a message against local crime and increase neighbor-to-neighbor awareness by attending the 30th annual National Night Out.
APD and the New Mexico State Police are two of several agencies in the state joining cities across the country for this event.
Residents are asked to spend time outside with their neighbors and police by organizing barbeques and flashlight walks. The ultimate goal of the event is to encourage local anti-crime programs and put criminals on notice that neighbors are organized and watching out for each other.
Attorney General Gary King will attend gatherings in three Albuquerque neighborhoods tonight: the ABQ Park Association at 2423 Mesilla NE at 5 p.m., the Indian Moon-Association-Vista Verde Park on Hannett Place at 5:30 p.m. and the Snow Heights Association-Snow Heights Park at Pennsylvania and Constitution at 6 p.m.
NMSP will be on the plaza in downtown Santa Fe between 6 and 10 p.m. There will be opportunities to meet the bomb squad, dive team and motorcycle units, as well as free food, games and door prizes.
The National Guard will also be present.
