AZTEC, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico man has been convicted of impersonating a police officer and sexual assault.
The Farmington Daily Times reports that a jury Wednesday found Eric Kenneth guilty of kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal sexual contact with a deadly weapon and impersonating a police officer stemming from a 2011 episode.
According to authorities, the 31-year-old Shiprock resident pulled over a Texas woman in San Juan County. Deputies say he was driving a truck with headlights on it, started flashing them at the victim and made a fake drunken driving stop. Authorities say he sexually assaulted the woman, then allowed her to take a photo of him.
Kenneth sobbed after the verdict was read and hugged family members.
Sentencing has not been scheduled.
