A tornado warning had eastern Curry County and Clovis residents on edge Thursday evening as a severe thunderstorm spawned many funnel clouds.
Trained weather spotters reported funnels forming within the storm as it crossed southwest toward the city of Clovis, however a tornado never touched down according to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.
Egg-sized hail pummeled the eastern part of Clovis and continued to fall as the storm passed south of town. No damage was reported at news time; however local business owners said they will have to closely inspect their property in the morning to make sure.
Severe weather will remain a threat for parts of eastern New Mexico as long as plentiful moisture and upper level shear are present in the atmosphere. Stay with KOB Eyewitness News 4 for the latest in severe weather and up to the minute information for the weather in your area.
