City of Albuquerque environmental health inspectors discovered evidence of rats and mice inside the grocery area of Pros Ranch Market near Central and Atrisco.

The investigation into the matter began when the inspectors received photos of dead rats claiming to be inside the store from an anonymous source.

An inspector noted on a report that she found seven dead mice in rodent traps, saw mice and rat droppings, saw live and dead cockroaches throughout the building, and discovered a large amount of gnats and flies in the produce area.

The inspection resulted in a red sticker, which is a failing grade.

A re-inspection five days later showed that the store addressed the concerns.  A city official said employees at the grocery store plan on taking food preparation courses beginning Monday.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 reached to the store’s manager and corporate office.  Management from Pros Ranch Market hadn’t responded to our requests for an interview as of Friday afternoon.
