ALBUQUERQUE -- A surveillance video shows a thief carrying stolen items to his car in broad daylight.

A Westside Albuquerque family caught it on camera and now, they are asking for your help identifying the culprit.

You can see him headed straight for the camera, scoping out the scene and then hiding before he strikes.

Homeowners hope getting his face out will get him behind bars.

Barbie Pierson has cameras placed in clear view on every side of her home, so she is shocked a burglar did not notice them as he robbed her garage Thursday night.

Cameras caught him pulling up in a white pick-up and backing up after he sees the family’s garage door open.

He walks straight toward the house.

“He [puts] gloves on,” Pierson said. “He crouches down between my plant and my air conditioner and he’s hiding.”

He walks to the garage where he steals a toolbox and several other items. He also rifled through Pierson’s car – and he does it all while her 11-year-old son is in the backyard.

“He could have had a gun on him, he could have had a knife, he could have had anything,” Chad Pierson said.

Pierson says it is not the stolen items she is most upset about; it is what else he could have done.

“The what-ifs are the worst part,” Pierson said. “The worst part is wondering what could have happened or what could happen to our family. It’s crazy that it happened and I’m just happy we had the cameras or we would never have known.”
