WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) - Navajo police say two people have been injured following shootings at the Navajo Nation Fair.
Window Rock Police District Cmdr. Bob Etsitty says two officers responded to a report of domestic violence early Friday morning on the east side of the fairgrounds near the Arizona-New Mexico border. When they arrived, they found a Navajo man brandishing a gun.
Etsitty says the man had fired the weapon and struck a woman inside a vehicle. Her injuries were not considered life threatening.
Etsitty says an officer shot the man, who was transported to the hospital. Etsitty was unsure of the extent of the man's injuries.
Authorities did not release the identities of anyone involved.
Etsitty says the Navajo officers will be placed on leave while tribal and federal authorities investigate the shootings.
