Women veterans will gather in Albuquerque on Saturday for a conference.
The "2013 Women Veterans Conference" takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 1901 University Ave. NE. The conference is free for all women veterans and active-duty personnel.
Doors open for registration at 7 a.m. Free pastries, coffee and tea will be provided in the morning, along with a full-meal luncheon later in the day, in which Gov. Susana Martinez will deliver a lunchtime address.
Representatives from the Albuquerque Regional VA office, the New Mexico VA Health Care System and the New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services will present information about available VA and state benefits available for veterans and their dependents—with an emphasis on benefits and programs specifically for women veterans.
Behavioral experts and other agencies will also have presentations about available programs for victims of domestic violence, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other post-combat afflictions.
Though the conference is free, pre-registration is strongly recommended. For more information and to pre-register, contact (512)-917-6881 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
