A helicopter crash in Union County over the weekend is the third to crash in the state in less than two weeks.
The aircraft, a government helicopter from Illinois, went down Saturday afternoon in Amistad, N.M., with two people aboard. Both survived the crash.
An Illinois Department of Transportation spokesperson told the Associated Press that the helicopter was traveling to Nevada for maintenance at the time of the crash.
On Aug. 31, three people died when a helicopter hit power lines and crashed just south of Truth or Consequences, N.M. That same week, a television crew's chopper crash was caught on camera near Clayton, N.M. Everyone on board survived with only minor injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration is still investigating what caused the helicopter from Illinois to crash.
