ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A memorial service has been scheduled for a firefighter who was missing for a week in a rugged area of northern New Mexico before his body was found by search and rescue crews.
The service for Token Adams will be Thursday at Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque.
The 41-year-old engine captain disappeared Aug. 30 while checking a report of smoke near Jemez Springs, where he lived with his pregnant wife and young son. He had worked with the Santa Fe National Forest for 18 months and knew the area well.
Investigators say it appears he crashed his ATV.
Hundreds of volunteers, fellow firefighters, search and rescue teams and the Civil Air Patrol spent a week combing some 50 square miles of mesa tops and steep canyons in search for Adams. His body was found Friday.
