Flooding forces evacuations across NM

Residents in areas of Sierra and San Miguel counties and the Santa Clara Canyon have been advised to evacuate.

In Sierra County, residents living near Las Palomas Canyon, North Percha Creek and Animas Creek have been urged to leave their homes. The Herald of Truth or Consequences reports evacuees are being directed to the Lee Belle Johnson Center on Foch Street. The Sierra County Sentinel also reports the Civic Center is open for evacuees.

Evacuations are also taking place along Gallina Creek in San Miguel County, according to the city's emergency management.

The National Weather Services reports residents in Santa Clara Canyon are also being evacuated from the area. The evacuation does not apply to the community of Los Alamos.
