San Juan County is adding up the flood damage, and so far the county's bill is topping a half-million dollars.

One of the hardest hit areas is McGee Park, the home of many popular community events.

"Any given day it can be anywhere from... like the mission of mercy where there were a couple of thousand to yesterday when we had 100," said Michael Davidson, parks and maintenance director.

But after the floods this past week, the parks' priority is cleaning up and making repairs.

"The cleanup can take several week, the repairs could extend into next year or so," said Davidson.

Two barrel races were scheduled at one of the park’s arenas this weekend, but because of the water, they're being moved to an indoor facility.

"That arena probably won't be available for use for two or three weeks," Davidson said.

There are bigger obstacles to face for other events.

One of their biggest challenges is getting their RV lots ready for their RV rally in April. Not only do they have to clear out the mud they also have to fix some of the water and electricity lines.

They also have to repair this bridge that connects to one of the lots.

But even with the challenges the park faces, the show must go on.  The plan is to make repairs so that no future events will have to be canceled.

San Juan County is telling us it could take a month to clean up the worst of the damage.
