It is the last weekend for the New Mexico State Fair and people are packing Expo New Mexico.
But as it turns out – they are also packing parking lots, causing some traffic headaches for drivers.
At some points of the day, rows of cars packed free lots as far as the eye could see.
Actually getting to the fair was rough too.
“It was backed up about 2 stoplights back and it was pretty bad out there coming in, it had me grumbling a bit which my wife would love to tell you,” Bo Frasier said with a laugh.
After beating the clogged side streets, fairgoers had a tougher task to tackle – actually finding a spot.
The seemingly endless line of cars inside fair-sponsored parking lots led some drivers to choose paid ones, which did not turn out so well for some.
“Parking was horrible. It was expensive, hard to get in, people were pretty irate,” Marco Ramirez said.”
But we also met drivers who might teach a thing or two for next time. Wear your walking shoes.
“I decided not to even go up close, I just went as far away as possible and found something down there so we got a little exercise,” Frasier said.
Or use a service the fair set up for you.
“The parking was terrible today so we just gave up and took the rapid ride,” Dan McCulley said.
It is one way to completely avoid looking for a spot.
