FARMINGTON -- A Farmington man suspected of starting two fires in the same location--and possibly several more in the area--is now behind bars.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, fire crews responded to a mobile home fire in the area of South Butler and Poplar. According to Farmington police, two mobile homes, two sheds and a camp trailer were destroyed in the fire, with damage totals exceeding $20,000.
Later that morning, flames were reported at the same location. Police identified 43-year-old Raymond Montano as a possible arson suspect and arrested him at the crime scene, where he was found watching the second fire.
Montano was booked at the San Juan County Detention Center on a charge of arson. He is being held on a $30,000 bond.
Farmington police believe Montano may also be linked to several previous fires that occurred in the area.
