The Albuquerque Police Department and Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office held a joint press conference on Sunday to share what they know about the shooter in Saturday's rampage, which they described as senseless.

The shooter was identified as 35 year old Christopher Chase.

Police say he had a tattoo that said "cop killer", as well as previous embezzlement and fraud charges.

Police do not yet know the motive for the shootings, but ask anyone with information on Chase to contact them.

APD also said there were three officers shot. Two were hospitalized.

They will release their names, and potentially the names of officers who discharged their firearms, after they interview them.

All are expected to be okay.

BCSO says one deputy was shot. They identified her as Deputy Robin Hopkins, a former Marine who has been with the department since 1998.

Sheriff Dan Houston says she is in the ICU, but today was alert and communicating by writing.

When told of the outpouring of support from law enforcement and the community, she gave a smile and a thumbs up.

More information will be released as the investigation continues.
