Our 4 On Your Side team has received national recognition for our work exposing allegations that law enforcement in New Mexico are violating people who they pull over.
Tuesday night, we told you timothy Young's story. Today, Young's attorney filed a lawsuit suing the deputies.
Dash cam video shows how the incident started. Hidalgo County deputies pull Timothy Young over because he turned without putting on his blinker.
A drug dog alerted that he had drugs.
The federal lawsuit claims deputies forced Young "to drop his underwear to his knees, exposing his genitalia in the parking lot" while they searched him for drugs.
When deputies didn't find anything, they took him to the Gila regional Medical Center in Silver City.
The lawsuit claims "Dr. Brynt Beesly conducted a finger search of Young's anus, but found only stool."
The doctor also x-rayed Young.
The lawsuit also notes the drug dog's certification had expired. 4 On Your Side got a copy of the certification weeks ago showing the expiration.
The lawsuit names Hidalgo County deputies Patrick Green, Javier Peru and David Arredondo as the officers who violated and humiliated Timothy Young.
The lawsuit states the Gila Regional Medical Center billed Young for $600. There were also issues with the search warrant. It was signed in one county, but executed in another.
